Artery Branching Stent Simulation

Development of Artery Branching Stent concentrated on the branching flare.

A stent for artery branching was developed. The stent is assembled from 2 parts, one on the main artery and the second for the branch.The simulation was done on the branch artery part.

The stent was made from stainless steel 316 and the problem was focused on the flaring part of the stent. The task was designing the flare part that will require minimum force during opening and fixing and yet strong enough to withstand the artery loads. During expanding, the stent experience very high plastic phenomenon.The analysis included the crimping expanding processes and artery loads.
High strain is developed on the stent although the expansion is done with ferly low pressure suitable for medical balloon.

The analysis revealed the weaknesses spots and let the customer to develop a safer and better branching stent.
