A customer changed the basic design, saved time and costs on prototypes, due to a structural analysis of his product. Bivas technologies designed a 40-ton press for a customer synterization process. A high precision force and location control was required. The analysis aims were:
The structure is built from 2 fixed plates and a moving one connected to a piston. A threaded rod is connecting the 2 static plates In this design via a tube that define the space between the plates. Pre-stress is implemented In this design. In the assembly process the threaded rod was designed to be closed in a certain torque to provide a pre-stress to the tubes. A 3 stages analysis was implemented:
Due to that analysis results the structure of both static plates, was changed to prevent them to bend. The tubes thickness was reduced to save material but in the same time to be able to withstand the high stresses developing in the process.
Fatigue aspects were examined also and influenced the final design. |
